Jelena Ostapenko v Su-wei Hsieh Head to Head
Ostapenko and Hsieh have been involved in two career head-to-head clashes till date, with the Taiwanese holding an emphatic 2-0 lead over the Latvian. Their last meeting came in the first round of 2019 Wimbledon Championships, which Hsieh won comfortably.

Ostapenko Didn’t Last Long at Ostrava
Currently pegged at the 29th spot in singles rankings, Ostapenko finished in the last 16 at her last event, the Ostrava Open.
Opening her campaign against Anna Blinkova, the 24-year-old Latvian streaked past the Russian in straight sets to set up a second-round outing against this year’s French Open and US Open semifinalist Maria Sakkari.
Failing to replicate her stupendous showing in the first-round against the Grecian, Ostapenko bowed out in the last 16 after being routed by Sakkari in straight sets.
However, she will be eyeing atonement for that loss and more as she opens her campaign at the Indian Wells Masters against seasoned Taiwanese Hsieh Su-wei on Friday.
But the task before her is no less than formidable than it was fending Sakkari, as she currently trails 0-2 on the head-to-head count against the Taiwanese.
However, she would be hoping that the urge to get one over Hsieh, couple with a quest for redemption after the failed Ostrava campaign, will take her to a win against the experienced campaigner.

Hsieh Fights Past Brengle
Coming into the Indian Wells Masters on the back of a second-round finish at the Chicago Tennis Fall Classic, Hsieh drew little-known American Madison Brengle in her tournament opener.
Currently just inside the top-100 in singles, the experienced Taiwanese, who famously took down 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu at this year’s Australian Open, raced to an easy win in the opening set.
However, the second set turned out to be much closer than expected as Brengle took her opponent to a tiebreaker. But Hsieh edged out the American in the tiebreak to prevail in straight sets.
While she would have been relieved to have made it through to the second round, the Taiwanese faces sprightly Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in her next.
Though she will take a 2-0 head-to-head lead over the Latvian into Friday’s clash, she will be wary of a blowback from Ostapenko this time after two unsuccessful attempts.
Ostapenko v Hsieh Prediction and Tip
While Ostapenko will hold a slight edge over Hsieh on account of her superior ranking, there isn’t much to separate the two stars on the evidence of current form.
While the win in the opening-round will have given a good head of momentum to the 35-year-old Taiwanese going into this clash, the Latvian will be no less determined to set the score straight this time.
Tip: Ostapenko to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
