Casper Ruud v Lloyd Harris Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, at Winston-Salem two years ago. Ruud won the first set easily, and then Harris was forced to retire with injury.

Ruud Cruises into the Third Round
Ruud is looking for the ranking points that he needs to make absolutely certain of his place in the field for the season-ending ATP finals in Milan.
And, having won five ATP titles this year, including last week in San Diego, he is playing with the confidence of a man who knows he belongs in such elite company.
Certainly, Roberto Carballes Baena, the Spanish world number 85, barely troubled him in their second round match on Saturday.
Th e Norwegian was in control almost from the start, breaking the Spaniard in his opening service game and then then breaking him again to wrap up the first set in barely half an hour.
And two more breaks of serve at the start of the second set sealing Carballes-Baena’s fate.
He did create one break point against the Ruud serve, but that was only token resistance and the Norwegian soon put him out of his misery.

Harris Swats Aside Spanish Opposition
This is the first time Harris has made the amin draw in Indian Wells, but, after a season io which he made his maiden ATP 500 final in Dubai, and reached his first Grand Slam quarter-final in New York, the South African’s ranking was high enough that he was seeded for this event and given a first round bye.
And, like Ruud, he faced Spanish opposition in the form of the world number 43, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, a man, if truth be known, happier on clay.
The first set took barely half an hour and is simple in its re-telling. Serve dominated and there was only one break point crested which Harris converted and was then able to consolidate.
The South African then seized from control of the match by breaking Davidovich-Fokina in successive games at the start of the second half. The Spaniard started to put belated pressure on the Harris serve and got one of the breaks back.
But Harris was not to be denied and another break gave him the match.
Ruud v Harris Prediction and Tip
Harris is in good form, but he is playing a man at the top of his game and full of confidence. That makes the Norwegian the clear favourite to advance.
