Alexander Zverev v Andy Murray Head to Head
The players have met twice with Murray winning on both occasions. Their first meeting was at the 2016 Australian Open and then more recently at the 2020 Cincinnati Masters.

Alexander Zverev was on a eleven match winning streak on the hard courts heading into the USOpen and fell short in the semi- finals against Noval Djokivic, having won 16 in a row.
In what had been a good season for Zverev, winning titles at Acupulco and Madrid, as well as making the quarters at the Aussie Open and semis at the French, things took an even better turn for him post Wimbledon.
Zverev won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, defeating Novak Djokovic en route and looked in ominous form at the Cincinnati Masters defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev in the latter stages.
After a successful Laver Cup, Zverer is back on the circuit looking to solidify his relative positioning compared to others and end the season on a high.
A first round bye was followed by an encounter with rookie American Jenson Brooksby. After a good first win for the German, Brooksby fought hard to equalize the match. However, it was all Zverev in the third set, going up 5-0 and then clinching the match with a 6-1 third set and a spot in the round of 32.

Murray Clinches Confidence Seeking Alcaraz Win
Former world number one Andy Murray continued his comeback trail on the North American hard courts with a second round loss to Wimbledon semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz in Cincinnati and another second round loss to Frances Tiafoe in Winston Salem. He was up against world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the opening round of the US Open and although the Scot put up a phenomenal performance, he fell just short in five sets.
The Briton has talked about still aiming to be in the top ten after he lost in Metz after the US Open, in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz. However, Murray did well to record wins against Ugo Humbert and Vasek Pospisil.
After a loss to eventual champion Casper Ruud last week in San Diego, Murray started off well this week against Adrian Mannarino setting himself up for a second round against up and rising teenager from Spain, Carlos Alcaraz.
A tight first set with an early Murray break reverted soon, with a strong Alcaraz comeback to win 7-5. Murray came back strong to win the second set 6-3, and then was up a double break 4-1 in the third before clinching the match 6-2 and booking a third round battle against Alexander Zverev.
Zverev v Murray Prediction and Tip
This will be one of the more exciting match-ups in the round of 32, with both players in good form and with stature to draw much of the spotlight. Eventually it will come down to Murray’s fitness and if he can endure another demanding match.
Expect a good contest with Zverev to prevail in two tight sets.
