Anett Kontaveit v Ons Jabeur Head to Head
Jabeur has dominated the rivalry having won all three of their meetings on the tour. Two of those wins came last year, in Cincinnati and Indian Wells. Jabeur’s first win over Kontaveit came in Moscow in 2018.
Kontaveit defeated Jabeur at an ITF event in Presto in 2014.

Kontaveit Dispatches Ruse
Annett Kontaveit continued to dazzle in Sydney as she stormed into the quarterfinals with a second straight sets win on Wednesday.
The world No. 7, who defeated China’s Zhang Shuai 6-3, 6-3 in the first round on Monday, knocked out Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Estonian had a poor start, losing serve in the very first game of the match. But she broke back in the fourth game, only to see the Romanian restore the advantage in the next game.
There would be a third consecutive break of serve to bring Kontaveit back once again. From that point on Ruse began to fade away and Kontaveit tightened her grasp on the match.
The Estonian broke again to take the first set and then breezed past the Romanian in the second for a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
The one hour and 16 minute contest saw Konatveit convert 6 of 13 break points and save 2 of 4.
The 26-year-old is coming off a 48-win season, which saw her advance to seven finals, claim four titles, finish runner-up at the season-ending WTA Finals and make a top-10 debut.

Jabeur Gets First Win Over Kvitova
After losing all three of their previous meetings, Ons Jabeur finally got her first win over Petra Kvitova, defeating the World No. 21 in a Round of 16 contest in Sydney on Wednesday.
The Tunisian, ranked No. 10 in the world, needed an hour and 24 minutes to beat the Czech 6-4, 6-4.
Kvitova led 1-2 in the first set after neither player could hold serve in the first three games. However, Jabeur got the break back later in the set and then clinched the set in the 10th game, with a third break in the set.
The second set followed a similar pattern with Kvitova breaking early and taking a 1-3 lead, but the seventh seed bounced back once again, getting the break back in the sixth game and then closing out the match by breaking Kvitova to love in the last game of the match.
Jabeur had begun the tournament with a 6-1, 6-3 win over local hope Astra Sharma in the first round.
Jabeur, along with her quarterfinal opponent Kontaveit, had the joint-highest number of wins in the women’s game last season. She reached three finals last year, and picked up her maiden WTA title in Birmingham.
Jabeur’s 48-19 season also saw her become the first Arab tennis player, male or female, to break into the top 10.
Kontaveit v Jabeur Prediction and Tip
Jabeur has dominated this rivalry and was 2-0 last year. The match is expected to go the distance. Will be interesting to see if Kontaveit can get her first win on the tour over the Tunisian.
