Here we have provided the latest Munich Open betting tips & predictions for the 2020 edition of the tournament. The Bavarian International Tennis Championships, also known as Munich Open and BMW Open for sponsorship reasons, is a men’s professional tennis tournament that is a part of the ATP World Tour 250 Series. Played on outdoor clay courts, it is one of the four German tournaments on the ATP World Tour Calendar.

The event, being a part of the clay season, is played a few weeks before the French Open. Despite being a 250 series event, it is one of the most important tennis events in Germany. The tournament has been taking place since 1900 and has featured many big names over the years. The prize money for the tournament is 450,000 Euros.

The defending champion for the upcoming edition is the World No. 4 Alexander Zverev, who capped the 2018 season by winning the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Ever since he turned pro, the 21-year-old has taken the circuit by storm. Impressively, he is also the two-time defending champion in Munich having won the tournament in 2017 as well.

Over the years, the likes of Andy Murray, Marin Cilic, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Roberto Bautista Agut, and Dominic Thiem have also graced the tournament with their presence. Given the popularity of the tournament, we can expect the upcoming edition to be along the same lines.

What Happened at the 2019 ATP Munich Open?

Defending champion Alexander Zverev crashed out in the last-eight stage at the hands of Cristian Garin, who then went on to win the title by defeating Matteo Berrettini in the final. The finalists had gotten past third seeded Marco Cecchinato and fourth seeded Roberto Bautista Agut in the semifinals.

In the 2018 edition of the tournament, Alexander Zverev was awarded the top seed. As the defending champion back then, he was handed a fairly tricky draw with the likes of Hyeon Chung, Martin Klizan, and Gael Monfils placed in the same bracket.

However, Zverev faced little resistance on his route to the final. Except for his opening match against Yannick Hanfmann – an affair that lasted for three sets, the German won all of his subsequent matches in straight sets. In the final, he met the 2016 Munich Open champion Philipp Kohlschreiber, whom he defeated 6-3, 6-3.

The likes of Diego Schwartzman and Fabio Fognini also participated in the tournament but none of them made it past the early rounds.
