Filip Krajinovic v Damir Dzumhur Head to Head
This will be a first meeting between the two 29-year-olds.

Krajinovic Sends Tsonga Packing
World No. 36 Filip Krajinovic continued to build on the solid start at the Montpellier Open as he knocked out 2019 champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the Round of 16 on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals for the third time in tournament in his three appearances. The Serb was a quarterfinalist in 2019 and a semifinalist in 2020.
On Thursday, Krajinovic got a break in the very first game of the match and that remained the only break of serve in the entire match. He had one more break point opportunity at a critical juncture in the second set, which he couldn’t convert. His opponent though held as many as five break points in the match, but the Serb saved all five of them. The second set evntually needed a tiebreaker, which Krajinovic dominated to win the one hour and 41 minutes contest 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
He had taken a minute more to beat Alexei Popyrin 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) in the first round.
The 29-year-old, who began the season with a 2-1 record at the ATP Cup, was beaten in the first round of the Australian Open by Diego Schwartzman.
The 2017 Paris Masters finalist will be aiming for a first semifinal spot since his final four finish in Sofia last year. He had also featured in the final in Hamburg in 2021, finishing runner-up to Pablo Carreno Busta.

Dzumhur Piles More Misery on Basilashvili
Nikoloz Basilashvili had come into the tournament with a 0-4 record in 2022 and a 0-3 record in Montpellier. The Georgian would have hoped for a change of fortune on Thursday, but it wasn’t to be as qualifier Damir Dzumhur piled more misery on the World No. 21, extending his winless run in the tournament and also in 2022.
Dzumhur broke Basilashvili six times in the match, and saved half of the six break points that he faced to win the one-hour-and-38-minute contest 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
Ranked No. 152 in the world, the Bosnia and Herzegovina player had needed an hour and 24 minutes to beat Slovakia’s Alex Molcan 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 in the first round.
A three-time tour-level champion from four finals, Dzumhur had qualified for the main draw at Montpellier with straight sets wins over Belgium’s Zizou Bergs and Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis.
The 29-year-old will be playing in the quarterfinals in Montpellier for the second time having reached that far in 2018.
