Jenson Brooksby v Marcos Giron Head to Head
This will be their first tour-level meeting. However, Giron defeated Brooksby in their only meeting at the Houston Challenger in 2019 en route to capturing the title.

Playing his first tour-level event in 2022, Jenson Brooksby reached the semifinals of the Dallas Open with a straight sets rout of Australia’s Jordan Thompson in the quarterfinals on Friday.
With the win the 21-year-old improved his quarterfinals record to 4-0. He was a semifinalist in Washington and Antwerp and finished runner-up in Newport last year.
On Friday, Brooksby broke Johnson once in the first set and thrice in the second to claim a 6-3, 6-0 win in an hour and 12 minutes. Such was Brooksby’s dominance in the second set that he dropped just three points on his serve and just five while returning.
The American had a fantastic 15-7 run in 2021. His only previous tournament this year was the Columbus Challenger where he lost in the semifinals to Yoshihito Nishioka.
Brooksby will be happy with his convincing performance on Friday, which came a day after a tough 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Italy’s Andreas Seppi in the opening round.
On Saturday, the World No. 54 will be hoping to reach a second career final.

Giron Takes Out the Top Seed
Seventh seed Marcos Giron knocked out the top seed Taylor Fritz on Friday to march into the semifinals in Dallas.
Ranked No. 70 in the world, Giron saved 11 of 14 break points and converted three of nine to win the two-hour-and-23-minute contest 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3). In the nail-biting third set, both players had a match point on opponent’s serve but neither were able to convert it, eventually sending the set into the tiebreak, which was clearly dominated by Giron.
The American had come into the tournament with a 0-3 record in 2022, but he has now won three on the trot in Dallas.
It was the second time in two days when Giron needed a deciding set to advance. On Thursday, the 28-year-old had rallied from a set down to eliminate Britain’s Liam Broady 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
He had begun his campaign with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over another American Tennys Sandgren.
