Garbine Muguruza v Danielle Collins Head to Head
It’s 1-1 between the two ladies currently with Collins getting the last laugh. She won the match in the 2020 French Open in three sets.

In April 2021, Danielle Collins (then ranked World No. 40), underwent surgery for endometriosis and also suffered an abdominal injury in the French Open.
Since then, she has opened her WTA tally with two titles from Palermo and San Jose, and also a Grand Slam runner-up silverware from the Australian Open this season.
The 28-year-old Collins did not feature in any tune-up events in 2022, playing directly in the Slam. Over the fortnight, she defeated the likes of Clara Tauson, Ana Konjuh, Elise Mertens, Alize Cornet, and Iga Swiatek to reach her maiden Grand Slam final.
Collins, however, lost to Ashleigh Barty but that run helped her become the World No. 11 – a career-best for the American.
Now, the onus is on her to prove that she is not a one-hit-wonder and is more than capable to deliver such results consistently.

Muguruza, Coming off a Rocky Run
World No. 6 Garbine Muguruza is the defending champion in WTA Dubai 2022. She won the title last year in what proved to be an overall fantastic season for the Spaniard.
The 28-year-old clinched the trophies in Dubai, Chicago, and the year-end WTA Finals – in addition to being a runner-up at the Qatar Open and Yarra Valley Classic. On the back of these results and wins over the top 10 players on the circuit, Mugurza climbed back into the top 10.
So far this season, however, her form has been a far cry from what we have come to expect of Muguruza. In Sydney, she succumbed to Daria Kasatkina in the quarterfinal while in Melbourne major, she lost to Alize Cornet in the second round with 3-6, 3-6.
These erratic results are not completely out of character for the number four seed and she is known to bounce back from these ruts.

This match can go either way although, Collins has got a slightly better chance of winning this one. However, we may be looking at a three-setter before the victor is decided.
