Coria Blasts Past Garin
Having gone into his first round match at 7/5 odds to win it, Coria surprised quite a few fans and might have even surprised himself a tad when he clinched that encounter against Cristian Garin.
And that was not just to do with the fact Coria won but did it so effortlessly as well.
In a match which lasted just an hour and 16 minutes, Coria broke his opponent five times in the match, and saved both the break-points he faced to win 6-2, 6-0. Not to mention, Garin is ranked 19th in the world.
In fact, Coria won nine games in a row to clinch the tie and get one step closer to the quarterfinal appearance he had managed in this tournament in 2020. Can he now overcome the experience of Verdasco?

This could get to be an interesting one with both players surprise entrants into the second round. Expect Coria’s younger legs to be of help but we could end up with a three-setter here.
