Andrey Rublev v Felix Auger- Aliassime Head to Head

This will be the fourth meeting between both players. Rublev leads the head-to-head 2-1. Their most recent meeting was last week at the Rotterdam semi-finals where Auger- Aliassime prevailed in a tight three setter and went on to win his maiden ATP title eventually.

Rublev Pushed By a Frenchman… Again..

Andrey Rublev’s season  began with a bout of Covid-19 causing him to miss the ATP Cup. An indifferent Australian Open followed which ended in a disappointing four set loss to veteran Marin Cilic.

Looking to defend his title in Rotterdam, it was a good start to the week for the Russian but he then lost out in an intriguing semi-final to eventual title winner from Canada, Felix Auger- Aliassime.

Seeded second here this week, it has not been the best of weeks for Rublev, who has run into back-to-back three setters in the earlier round against French veterans Richard Gasquet and Lucas Pouille, surprisingly, but eventually pulling himself out for a win.

In the semi-finals, Rublev was up against another Frenchman, Benjamin Bonzi who was coming off a convincing win against Russian Aslan Karatsev.

And again, a Frenchman pushed Rublev to a decider and again the Russian prevailed and set himself up for a shot at his first tile of 2022.

Auger-Aliassime Eyes Back To Back ATP Titles

After an impressive run Down Under in January, it was an excellent run for Auger-Aliassime last week in Rotterdam.

The world number 9 won his maiden ATP title breaking his finals jinx of having lost eight consecutive title rounds, defeating Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semis and finals respectively.

The young Canadian has continued the run this week with convincing wins against childhood idol Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga and rising Belarusian Ilya Ivashka.

Up against Russian Roman Safiullin in the semis, Auger- Aliassime knew it would be tricky given the convincing win the Russian had against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the previous round.

The Canadian broke early in the opening set, but Safiullin  broke back soon after, as he continued to pressure the opponent’s serve.

A first set tiebreak followed where the Russian was up 4-3 with a mini-break but a mix of nerves from him and the Canadian’s strong play saw Auger-Aliassime clinch the set 7-4.

A similar pattern followed in the second set, which again headed to a breaker, but this time the Canadian was focussed on ending the match without much ado and sealed the tiebreak 7-5.

Rublev v Auger-Aliassime Prediction and Tip

Rublev and Auger- Aliassime only just contested in a crucial encounter at Rotterdam and if that was anything to go by, we are in for another close contest.

It is anyone’s match and down to who plays better on the key points, but Auger-Aliassime has been getting stronger every week this season thus far. On the other hand, Rublev has looked low on confidence thus far in 2022, and been pushed in every match this week.

Expect a three-setter with Auger- Aliassime clinching back-to-back titles.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
