Karen Khachanov v Alex De Minaur Head to Head
These two tennis players played a very dramatic match at the 2020 US Open with the Australian advancing into the 4th round with a 6-4 0-6 4-6 6-3 6-1 win.

Khachanov Looking for Wins at Home
Karen Khachanov lives and trains in Dubai during the off-season with the Russian very familiar both with the conditions and the courts. Historically it has not translated to much success in the Persian Gulf with only one quarterfinal (2020). The Russian did play very well last week in Doha showcasing some of the consistency he has demonstrated this season.
So far, Khachanvo has a 10-5 win/loss ratio on the season and that’s fairly solid. He’s been struggling with the same issues this year as in previous years and it was evident last week in Doha. When faced with a strong opponent, Khachanov faltered as the match went on despite playing very well. He lost to Roberto Bautista Agut despite winning the first set.
He played very well but tried to overcompensate with aggressiveness and it didn’t work. At times it can, and that’s when he has runs like the one at the Olympics. Getting De Minaur in the first round is not ideal but Khachanov has the tools to win that match.

De Minaur and Consistency
Alex De Minaur has always been a very talented players but after breaking out a couple of seasons ago the Australian never quite found a way to take the next step. Last year was a bit of a regression for the Australian as he failed to play very consistent tennis. So far this year, the newfound consistency is a reason for optimism.
He currently has a 7-3 score on the season which is fairly good. He played well in Australia but ran into Jannik Sinner. His next event came in Rotterdam and he was solid taking down David Goffin and Mackenzie McDonald before losing to Tsitsipas.
Last week was a break for him and he will return to Dubai this week after playing it last year for the first time. He lost to Jeremy Chardy in R2 and generally, the courts don’t really fit his style hat well. He tends to have trouble against hyper-aggressive players but Khachanov is anything but that which should make that matchup an interesting one.
Khachanov v De Minaur Prediction and Tip
These two players played once before and De MInaur was able to win that match. It came in 2020 and was very close with both players showcasing their trouble with consistent tennis. Neither has improved much in that regard which makes this a match that could be a very close one that goes the distance. The form has been better for Khachanov lately as the Russian actually played in the Gulf last week.
He will be more adapted to the conditions and he knows the courts and facilities a lot better than De Minaur. The courts favour his play a bit more than that of De Minaur but in this matchup, it will mostly come down to consistency. Who plays steadier will win this match and it’s generally hard to call.
When it comes to the level overall shown I think De Minaur has been a bit better. Will it be enough to win remains to be seen but I do think it will be a close match and I do think we might see three sets. If I had to choose between a winner and over games I’d lean more to the owner. If I had to choose a winner, I think De Minaur might pull it off.
Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
