Ons Jabeur v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

In their one and only match on the tour, Jabeur was the winner. They met in the 2019 US Open where she prevailed in three sets.

Jabeur Finds her Groove

After starting a frustrating start to the 2022 season, mainly on account of her back injuries, Ons Jabeur is finally starting to find her rhythm.

She started the year with a quarterfinal stint in the Sydney Tennis Classic where she retired from her quarterfinal bout against Anett Kontaveit due to back concerns. The Tunisian was also forced to miss the Australian Open as a result.

It wasn’t until in Dubai that Jabeur returned to the action and had a decent resumption to her campaign. She reached the quarterfinal after upsetting Vera Zvonareva and Jessica Pegula en route.

Currently ranked World No. 10, Jabeur was a quarterfinalist in Doha in 2020 – a feat she achieved after seven consecutive first-round defeats.

Since then, the number eight seed has come a long way on the tour. She ended last season with a tally of 48-19 and three WTA finals and three quarterfinal results in WTA 1000 tier events and above.

Sasnovich Looking Sharp

Aliaksandra Sasnovich has been playing some of the best tennis of her career of late as she looks to make waves on the tour.

She started the season outside the top 100 but after the runner-up feat in Melbourne 2 – as a qualifier – she was back in the mid-70s. Most recently, the 27-year-old featured in the St. Petersburg Open where she reached the quarterfinal after knocking out Magda Linette and Jaqueline Cristian.

Here in Dubai, she started from the qualifiers and surpassed Ana Bogdan and Kirsten Flipkens – in straight sets – to reach the main draw.

In the opener, she made easy work of Shuai Zhang and defeated her 6-1, 6-1 in just 55 minutes. It was one of the most clinical performances from Sasnovich, who won 78% of the points on the first serve and took an impressive eight games in a row.

Jabeur v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

Jabeur will start as the favourite but she will be challenged by Sasnovich. Ultimately, she should come out on the top and reach the third round – whether it’s in two sets or three.
