The 24-year-old won half of the eight break points that she held in the match and saved seven of 10 that she faced to defeat the American 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
This was Tan’s second win of the season. She had beaten Yulia Putintseva in the opening round of the Australian Open but fell to Elina Svitolina in the next round.
