Sara Sorribes Tormo v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head

Sorribes Tormo leads the rivalry 2-0. One of the wins came in a qualifying round in Wimbledon in 2018, while the other was a tour-level victory in the semifinal in Guadalajara last year.

Another Easy Outing for Sorribes Tormo

Defending champion Sara Sorribes Tormo eased into the quarterfinals of the Guadalajara Open with another convincing victory.

The World No. 32, who won her only WTA title by defeating Eugenie Bouchard in the final in Guadalajara last year, needed an hour and 26 minutes to hand Poland’s Magdalena Frech a 6-0, 6-2 drubbing on Thursday.

The first set was all one-way traffic with the Spaniard bagelling the Polish player in less than 30 minutes. Frech, however, showed some resistance in the second set. While Sorribes Tormo was the first to break in the second, the Polish player broke back immediately to keep the set on serve. The defending champion broke again to take a 4-2 lead and then saved four break points in the next game to keep the advantage intact. She eventually served out the match without much trouble.

With the win, the 25-year-old is now 4-2 in the main draws this year. She had begun her title defense here with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over American Katie Volynets.

Sorribes Tormo last featured in a quarterfinal at the Cleveland Open, where her run ended in the semifinals.

Bouzkova Battles Past Bronzetti

Facing Sorribes Tormo will be Marie Bouzkova, who too improved her main draw record to 4-2 this year, with a second round win over Lucia Bronzetti on Thursday.

The World No. 96, who needed two hours and 39 minutes to edge past the seventh seed Miasaki Doi in the first round, had to toil hard in the second round as well, needing two hours and one minute to beat the Italian 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 in the Round of 16.

A straight sets victory would have felt much easier for Bouzkova, following the hard-fought opening round contest, when she had to rebound after losing the first set to win the contest 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

The 23-year-old Czech loves playing in Guadalajara. She was a finalist here in 2019, but that season the tournament was a WTA 125 event. She reached the semifinals in her second appearance last year. How far can she go this year?

Sorribes Tormo v Bouzkova Prediction and Tip

Both of Sorribes Tormo’s wins over Bouzkova have come in straight sets but the Czech gave her a tough fight on both the occasions. Expect the Czech to fight again, but the Spaniard to win and advance to the semifinals.

Tip: Sorribes Tormo to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
