Pedro Martinez v Yannick Hanfmann Head to Head

World No. 72 Pedro Martinez moved into the first quarterfinal of the season with a tough three-set win over compatriot Jaume Munar in the Round of 16 in Santiago on Thursday.
The 24-year-old Martinez, who has won a match in each of his previous five tournaments this season, is yet to register consecutive wins this year. Seeded fourth in Chile, Martinez had a first round bye. He maintained his record of winning his opening match this year, when he outlasted the World No. 93 Munar in a three hour and 31 minute contest.
Martinez saved a break point early in the first set and then broke Munar in the fifth game to go 3-2 up. He squandered an opportunity to break Munar again in the ninth game that could have handed him the set. But he eventually held serve in the next game, saving three break points, before closing out the hard-fought game.
Set two was equally competitive. Martinez broke at a crucial moment to go 5-4 up. But he couldn’t serve out the match as Munar came roaring back winning the next three games in a row and forcing the third set.
Martinez began the third with a break but saw the advantage wiped off in the sixth game as a determined Munar kept fighting. The roller-coaster saw Martinez break a second time to go 6-5 up, but then had to save a break point at 30-40 in the next game, before closing out the marathon contest 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.

Hanfmann Breezes Past Seyboth Wild
The 30-year-old German won 89% points on the back of his first serve, converted 4 of 6 break points and saved all three break points that he faced to reach a first quarterfinal since reaching the Bastad Open semifinal last year.
Hanfmann had won just one main draw match this year prior to this tournament, defeating Thanasi Kokkinakis in the first round of the Australian Open. He fell to Rafael Nadal in the next and then lost his opening round match to Argentina’s Juan Ignacio Londero.
The German has played much better in Chile. In the first round on Wednesday, the two-time tour-level finalist overturned a one-set deficit to defeat Coria 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
