Daniil Medvedev v Rafael Nadal Head to Head
The players have met five times on the tour with Nadal leading the head-to-head 4-1. They met last month in the finals of the Australian Open, where Nadal came back from a two sets to love deficit to win a record breaking 21st major title in an epic five-setter.

Medvedev To Be New Word Number One
As a result of a quarter-final loss for Novak Djokovic at the Dubai Open, world number two from Russia Daniil Medvedev will take over as the top ranked player in the world when the new rankings are published next Monday.
The 2021 US Open winner has continued his strong run of form into the 2022 season where he started the year with a good run at the ATP Cup leading Russia to the final four where it came down to a tussle in the doubles that they lost against eventual title winners Canada.
Another good run followed at the Aussie Open where he was involved in a dramatic final against Rafa Nadal and up two sets to love, only to lose in a five-setter.
The top seed here in Mexico, the Russian has looked in sublime form this week with straight set wins against Benoit Paire, Pablo Andujar, and Yoshihito Nishioka, and looks a favorite for a title run this weekend.

Nadal Continues Unbeaten Run
World No. 5 Rafael Nadal extended his unbeaten run to 13 matches in 2022 as he marched into the final four of the Acapulco Open with another convincing win on Wednesday.
The ATP 250 winner in Melbourne won a record 21st major title at the Australian Open and has followed that with another good run thus far this week as he eyes a 91st career ATP title.
Up against American Tommy Paul in the quarters, the Spaniard was aware of the good run his opponent has had in recent times and ensured he was off the blocks in a hurry.
The first set went by quickly as Nadal did not let Paul settle and won the set 6-0 in no time.
The American put up a better show in the second set, serving and holding well and even putting pressure on the Nadal serve.
The set was headed for a tiebreak and the 21-time title winner upped the ante when needed, with a timely minibreak and ensured there were no slip ups on his serve as he took the set 7-5 in the tiebreak and with that recorded a straight sets win.
Into the semi-finals, Nadal will be hoping to continue his unbeaten run and in turn capture a third title of 2o22 this weekend.
Medvedev v Nadal Prediction and Tip
There is a lot of buildup to this match, given the enthralling contest at the Aussie Open final few weeks ago, Nadal’s unbeaten 2022 run and now Medvedev being the new world number one.
Another exciting contest lies ahead of us; but expect Medvedev to prevail in three sets.
