The WTA Hua Hin, also known as WTA Thailand Open, is an upcoming women’s professional tennis tournament that is a part of the WTA Tour. It will be played in the picturesque beach town of Hua Hin in late January. In this article, you can find the latest WTA Hua Hin betting tips, free picks & predictions for the 2020 edition of the tournament.
The tournament was previously a part of the WTA 125K Series before being upgraded to the International tier in 2019. So far, only two editions of the event have taken place – one in 2015 and the other in 2017. The prize money on the two occasions was $125,000.
For the 2020 WTA Thailand Open, however, the prize money has been bumped up to $250,000 and the champion will walk away with 280 ranking points. The event will take place on outdoor hard courts. In its brief history, the event has featured many youngsters and rising stars like the 2018 US Open winner Naomi Osaka, the Swiss No. 1 Belinda Bencic, Kirsten Flipkens, and Yanina Wickmayer.
However, the town of Hua Hin has hosted several exhibition matches over the years which featured the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sharapova, and Caroline Wozniacki. Even though they didn’t compete professionally, fans still got to enjoy some quality tennis.
Considering that the event is now up in the big league, we can expect the list of participants to be far more competitive for the 2019 version.

What Happened at the 2019 WTA Hua Hin?
Dayana Yastremska won the 2019 edition of the Hua Hin Open by beating Ajla Tomljanovic in the final of the competition, winning 6-2, 2-6, 7-6. This was after Belinda Bencic, the 2017 winner had opted to participate at the St.Petersburg Open.
Yastremksa was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Magda Linette in the first semifinal while Tomljanovic overcame Tamara Zidansek in the other to make it to the title-decider. Top seeded Garbine Muguruza was sent packing by the eventual winner Yastremska in the quarterfinal round, with Wang Yafan, Zheng Saisai and Viktorija Golubic being the other quarterfinalists.
The 2017 edition of WTA Thailand Open was the last one as a 125K Series event. The tournament was ultimately won by the Swiss star Belinda Bencic, who defeated the fourth seed Hsieh Su-Wei in the final with 6-3, 6-4.
The Swiss started the event as an unseeded player and was placed in the same bracket as the top seed Wang Qiang and the third seed Yingying Duan. However, these two players failed to move past the quarterfinals, effectively making things fairly easier for Bencic. In the semifinal, she faced Ana Bogdan whom she defeated in straight sets.
In the bottom half as well, the second seed Evgeniya Rodina, along with the fifth seed Yanina Wickmayer and the eighth seed Naomi Broady, couldn’t make it past the early rounds. Ultimately, the semis featured Hsieh and the Swiss Viktorija Golubic – an eventful clash that was won by the Taiwanese.
