Anisimova Hoping to Recapture Season-Starting Form
Having fallen to 78th on the WTA charts at the start of the season, the former world number 21, Anisimova made a sterling start to the season this year.
She started off at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 with a solid performance, winning the title at the expense of some of the better-ranked players in the competition. While Anisimova had started off as a favourite in each of the matches, for her to consistently defeat each of her five opponents including the likes of Sorana Cirstea and Daria Kasatkina should have given her immense confidence.
What would have delivered more of the same to Anisimova would have been her showing at Australian Open.
Anisimova defeated Belinda Bencic in the second round and then followed it up with a shock victory over Naomi Osaka, who was 1/3 favourite going into that encounter.
And while the American then failed to qualify for WTA Dubai and lost to Jelena Ostapenko in the second round at Doha, Anisimova will look to get going again in this competition.

Navarro Aiming for Maiden Hard Court Win
A former junior French Open runner-up, Navarro’s best performances on the WTA and ITF circuit have been restricted to clay court tournaments.
On hard court surfaces, Navarro hasn’t met with a lot of success, and she is yet to win a main draw WTA encounter in such competitions.
Ranked 200th in the world at the moment, which is also her career-best, Navarro is coming off a semifinal appearance at the ITF Rome 2022 tournament indoors.
However, featuring in the Monterrey Open in the only competition she played, Navarro was bundled out in the opening round despite starting out a 4/6 favourite against Marcela Zacarias.
Can she trouble the much higher-pedigreed Anisimova in this one given her underwhelming record?
Anisimova v Navarro Prediction and Tip
While Anisimova is a strong favourite, the games market is too tempting to let go off given some of the inconsistencies shown by her.
