Camila Osorio v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

It is a deja-vu of sorts for both the players as the tally is not only tied at 1-1, but they last met right here at Indian Wells in October last season. Sasnovich won that match 6-4, 6-0.

Osorio Coming Off a Great Week

Camila Osorio had a rather muted start to the season featuring only at the Australian Open (first-round, straight-set loss to Naomi Osaka). Since then, the young Colombian has participated in only two events – both over the last 15 days.

In Guadalajara, Osorio reached the quarterfinal while in Monterrey, she reached the final after upsetting Elina Svitolina en route. She fell to Leylah Fernandez, 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-7(3) – squandering five championship points in the process.

Nonetheless, Osorio reached a career-high at World No. 35 and couldn’t have asked for a better tune-up to the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells. She has never made it past the opener here but this time around, her prospects are quite decent.

Following that defeat to Sasnovich in October, the 20-year-old ended the year with a runner-up feat in Tenerife. She is becoming a better player with every game and can cause ripples in the tournament.

Sasnovich, Hoping to Build on Recent Success

Aliaksandra Sasnovich has had one of the best starts to a season in recent years. As a qualifier, she reached the final in Melbourne 2 and later, was one of the final eight in the St. Petersburg Trophy.

Her last tournament was in Doha where she succumbed to Ons Jabeur in round two, after beating the recently concluded Lyon Open champion Shuai Zhang 6-1, 6-1 in the opener.

Currently ranked World No. 59, Sasnovich’s previous such start was seen in 2018 – she reached the final in Brisbane that January and later reached the third round in the Australian Open and Indian Wells. Surprisingly, her best result in the competition came last season when she stormed into the fourth round, defeating Emma Raducanu and Simona Halep in straight sets on the way.

Clearly, Sasnovich is a player who is capable of surprises and given her comparatively superior experience, she will fancy a similar run again.

Osorio v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

Both players have the wind in their sails although, Osorio has the advantage of momentum and consistency. She is also available at slightly higher odds, making this a good bet.
