Adrian Mannarino v Brandon Nakashima Head to Head

Their only previous encounter came at the Delray Beach Open played earlier this year and Mannarino had won that second round match in a difficult three-setter.

Mannarino in Fine Fettle After Slow Start

He might not have had the best of starts to the season, but Mannarino looked to have garnered enough momentum coming into the end of the season’s first quarter.

Mannarino, who fell in the opening round at both, the Melbourne Summer Set 1 and Sydney International, shocked Aslan Karatsev and Hubert Hurkacz at Australian Open to reach the fourth round of the season’s opening Grand Slam.

A quarterfinal at his next three successive tournaments, in Montpellier, Dallas and Delray Beach, followed soon after that including some solid individual victories. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, David Goffin, Nakashima and Steve Johnson have all endured defeats at Mannarino’s hands recently.

What would be interesting to see is whether he can continue with a similar momentum and get past Nakashima for the second time in as many months.

Nakashima in Bit of Struggle

He had improved to 62nd in the world, but Nakashima is now ranked 80th and that has been down to the underwhelming start he has had to the season.

Since making it to the quarterfinal in the first tournament he played in 2022, Nakashima has won just two matches spread across the four tournaments he’s played. In both those matches, his opponent had gone into the encounter as an overwhelming underdog.

The 20-year-old would be specially shocked by his loss in Acapulco, the last tournament he featured in.

Taking on Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk in his opener, a player who had gone into that match at 6/1 winning odds, Nakashima crashed to a straight-set loss to him.

Can he now take valuable lessons from those defeats and move forward here or is a third successive loss impending?

Mannarino v Nakashima Prediction and Tip

Mannarino starts off as a favourite given how well he’s gone about his business in recent times and while Nakashima is a talented player, he could find it tough here.

Tip: Mannarino to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
