Alize Cornet v Anna Kalinskaya Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 32-year old French woman, and her Russian opponent, who is nine years younger.

Melbourne Quarter-Finalist Cornet
Cornet’s first appearance at Indian Wells was back in 2009, and her best result to date here was in 2014, when she made the fourth round.
She was the runner-up in Chicago last year, her first final appearance in two years, but made personal history in Melbourne in January, reaching the last eight of a Grand Slam for the first time at her 63rd attempt, before eventually losing to Danielle Collins.
The Frenchwoman has only appeared in three tournaments since then. She lost in the first round in St. Petersburg and Lyon, and that was sandwiched between a visit to Doha where she reached the second round only to lose to Arnya Sabalenka.
She was given a first round bye, after taking Ashleigh Barty’s place at the top of the draw.

Kalinskaya Made Fourth Round Last Year
Kalinskaya has happy memories of Indian Wells from last year, having reached the fourth round in California, her best ever showing at a prestige tournament.
That helped her break back in the top 100 after suffering a slump in form.
She recently reached the semi-finals in Guadalajara before she was forced to pull out of her match with Sloane Stephens with an injury when it was one set all.
However, her ranking was not good enough to earn her direct entry into the main draw here, and she had to come through two rounds of qualifying to earn the right to play another Frenchwoman, fellow qualifier, Harmony Tan, in the first round on Wednesday.
The Russian breezed through the first set dropping just two games, and had just broken Tan at the start of the second set, when her opponent had to retire injured.
Cornet v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip
Kalinskaya will be hoping to find the same form that helped her reach the fourth round of this tournament last year, but, if Cornet can replicate the performance levels that saw her reach the last eight in Melbourne, she should progress.
Tip: Cornet to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
