Daria Kasatkina v Katie Volynets Head to Head

Kasatkina and Volynets have not played each other before this.

Kasatkina Could Meet Swiatek Again

A different continent, a different setting, and a different tournament, but the tennis draws have remained the same as far as Daria Kasatkina is concerned.

This is the fourth tournament running that Kasatkina could run into Iga Swiatek. The Russian has lost to the Pole in each of her last three tournaments including the third-round match at the Australian Open.

Last month’s loss to Swiatek at the Qatar Open was the most chastening of the lot, with the Russian going down 6-3 6-0 as the Polish star romped to the title.

There is a potential fourth-rounder against Swiatek looming large this fortnight, but Kasatkina will need to clear a couple of stumbling blocks to get there. Should she overcome Katie Volynets in the second round, she could meet Germany’s Angelique Kerber next.

Volynets Picks Up Maiden Indian Wells Win

Katie Volynets shocked Arantxa Rus to pick up her maiden Indian Wells win. Last year, in her debut appearance, Volynets lost to Petra Martic in the first round.

But she has received a second successive wild card at the event and has repaid the tournament organizers with a comeback win that is sure to give her plenty of confidence to rival Daria Kasatkina on Friday.

The 20-year-old American lost a length first set 6-4, but regrouped and made amends in the second set where she established a double-break lead before wrapping up the set three minutes shy of an hour.

In the third set, the Dutchwoman’s game fell into pieces and she began to fade. Volynets was the aggressor and took charge of the baseline rallies. She outhit the World No. 69 and broke serve three times to close out victory in two and half hours.

Kasatkina v Volynets Prediction and Tip

Kasatkina has restored a semblance of stability in her results in the past 12 months. It is hard to bet against the Russian these days especially when she is the overwhelming favorite.

Tip: Kasatkina to win in straight sets: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
