Lloyd Harris v Facundo Bagnis Head to Head

The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 25 year old South African, and the Argentine, who is seven years older.

Harris in Terrible Form

Harris has endured a torrid run of form in the lead up to Indian Wells, and has not won an individual singles match in an ATP event, dating back to Antwerp, last October.

All five of the tournaments he has played in 2022 resulted in first round defeats.

It would, therefore, have come as some relief to him to get back to winning ways last weekend in South African colours, winning both his Davis Cup ties, albeit against lowly ranked Israeli opposition.

He reached the third round in Indian Wells last year and would dearly love another good run to belatedly kick start his season, with a  bye in the first round one small step.

Bagnis with Low Expectations

Bagnis, a  renowned clay court specialist, will not have entered Indian Wells with any undue expectations.

But he finds himself in the second round after a straight sets first round victory over the Swiss player, Henri Laaksonen, the world number 87.

It was Laaksonen who was the first to drop his serve early in the first set, and, although he saved five set points on his own serve subsequently, Bagnis made the sixth count one game later.

However, the Swiss hit back with a  break of his own early in the second set, and served for the set, only to drop his own serve again at the crucial moment.

That meant a tie-break. Laaksonen went a mini-break-up, but, yet again, could not hold on to the advantage and Bagnis eventually took it to claim his place against Harris.

Harris v Bagnis Prediction and Tip

Under normal circumstances, Harris would be expected to win this match easily against the clay court specialist, but he is in such terrible form recently, that he will settle for a  victory of any kind.
