John Isner v Sam Querrey Head to Head

The pair have played each other nine times before, and Querrey leads their head to head series five matches to four, with their history stretching back to 2010, when Querrey won two out of their three meetings.

However, Isner has won their last two matches, at Acapulco in 2019, and at the French Open last year.

Isner’s Fine Record at Indian Wells

Isner reached the final in Indian Wells as far back as 2012, and was a semi-finalist two years later, in the years since enjoying a solid record in this tournament.

He has already made history this year – having previously been involved in the longest match in ATP history, he was on the losing side of the longest tie-break ever, when losing to Reilly Opelka in the semi-finals of Delray Beach.

Having been given a bye in the first round this year, he last saw action in Acapulco, where he reached the second round before going down in three sets to the world number 12, Cameron Norrie.

Querrey Reliant on a Wildcard This Year

Querrey reached the quarter-final in Indian Wells in 2018, and has twice reached the fourth round, but such is his form at the moment, he needed a wildcard to make the main draw this time.

He had lost ten consecutive matches leading up to the tournament, but turned the form book upside down with a gritty first round victory over the Dutch  player Tallon Griekspoor, the world number 54.

He lost the first set, which was largely dominated by serve, on a  tie-break, but then two consecutive breaks enabled him to level the match and take it into a deciding set.

He broke the Dutchman again midway through the third set, and was able to serve out from there.

Isner v Querrey Prediction and Tip

Querrey may have the better head to head record, but most of those wins came when he was at the peak of his career, and there is little in his recent from to suggest he is capable of what would amount to an upset this time.

Tip: Isner to win: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
