Veronika Kudermetova v Marketa Vondrousova Head to Head
This will be their second meeting on the WTA Tour; their first match (Dubai 2022 semifinal) wasn’t played as Vondrousova withdrew due to fitness concerns.

Number 21 seed Veronika Kudermetova did not have to work hard to earn her place among the elite 16. With a bye into the second round, she played Naomi Osaka and won 6-0, 6-4 although, Osaka’s game took a hit in set two when she was heckled by someone in the crowd.
It did not take much for Kudermetova to get the Japanese off balance following which, she found herself in a similar situation with Marie Bouzkova.
Losing the first set 6-4, Bouzkova took an early lead in the second with 2-0 before she couldn’t continue anymore due to an injury. As a result, the 24-year-old got a walkover.
She will now play in her third quarterfinal of the season; in her last two times in Melbourne and Dubai, she moved on to reach the final but had to contend for the runner-up cup (lost to Simona Halep and Jelena Ostapenko respectively).
Kudermetova has been exceptionally consistent of late and has done well in the doubles circuit too – She won the Dubai Championships and was a finalist in Doha with Elise Mertens.

Vondrousova, Continuing her Terrific Run
In her last tournament in Dubai, Marketa Vondrousova made it all the way to the semifinal as a qualifier before being unable to compete. Having continued in the same vein in Indian Wells, she will fancy her chances of reaching the semis once again.
The 22-year-old certainly made her case for the same when she dismissed the heavy favourite, number four seed Anett Kontaveit 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(5). That was a statement win and in some ways, a testimony to her consistency over the last season.
Vondrousova, currently ranked world number 33, reached the semifinals in four events last season – Melbourne, Luxembourg, Moscow, and Chicago. Additionally, she took home the silver medal from the Tokyo Olympics – defeating Naomi Osaka, Paula Badosa, and Elina Svitolina en route.
The 2019 French Open finalist was struggling at the start of 2022 but has done well to gain some momentum.
Kudermetova v Vondrousova Prediction and Tip
The match can swing either way but Kudermetova, given her overall form this season, has a slightly better chance to win this one. However, Vondrousova is coming off a good run herself and will put up a fight. It is quite likely we won’t see a winner until the full three sets are played.
