Caroline Garcia v Anna Bondar Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the tour.

Garcia, Looking Confident

The season so far may not have gone according to the plan for Caroline Garcia but there are plenty of positives to take from the seven tournaments she has participated in.

Her highlights include reaching the elite eight in Sydney (moving past Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina en route) and the semifinal in Lyon (wins over Camila Giorgi and Alison Van Uytvanck). The Frenchwoman also dismissed Simona Halep in Doha.

The 28-year-old last played in the BNP Paribas Open where she did beat the resurgent Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in the opener. However, she succumbed to Emma Raducanu in round two in three sets.

Garcia hasn’t won a singles title on the tour since the 2019 Nottingham Open and as a result, it is not really surprising to see her rank in the mid-60s. At Miami, her best result came in 2019 when she reached the fourth round.

Bondar, Moving up on the Tour

World No. 76 Anna Bondar started the year outside the top 90 but has done well to move up since. Although she is yet to post concrete results on the circuit, there is potential in the Hungarian to cause upsets.

The 24-year-old started the season as a qualifier in Melbourne 1 where she reached round two after upsetting Katerina Siniakova. Since then, Bondar has fallen either in the opening or the qualifying matches in Indian Wells, Doha, Dubai, St. Petersburg, and the Australian Open.

The Lyon Open is an exception to this where she made it to the quarters.

Garcia v Bondar Prediction and Tip

Garcia ticks all the right boxes ahead of this match but her inconsistency and proclivity to lose against lower-ranked players may not bode that well for her.

Meanwhile, Bondar, having made it to four ITF finals last year, is hungry for bigger wins and has got a good chance to cause problems for Garcia here. Ultimately, Garcia should come out as the winner but it may not be an easy win for her.
