Marketa Vondrousova v Yulia Putintseva Head to Head

World No. 33 Marketa Vondrousova is comes to Miami in good form. The 22-year-old Czech is 11-4 from all matches, including qualifiers, this year.
After a slow start to the season, the Tokyo Olympics silver medalist reached the semifinals in Dubai as a qualifier, but she couldn’t take the court for her final four match due to an injury.
She returned to action in Indian Wells, where she knocked out World no. 5 Annet Kontaveit in the third round. However, it was Veronika Kudermetova who halted Vondrousova’s progress in the Round of 16, beating the Czech in a close to three-hour contest.
Vondrousova, the 2019 French Open runner-up, has a good record in Miami. She was a quarterfinalist in her second attempt in 2019 and made it to the fourth round last year.

Putintseva Rallies Past Schunk
Yulia Putintseva rebounded after losing the first set to beat Germany’s Nastasja Mariana Schunk in the first round of the Miami Open.
After losing the first set to the World No. 243, Putintseva went a break down early in the second, but she recovered immediately and then never looked back as she raced to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
The Kazakh had 20 break point chances in the match and she took six of them. Her opponent had four breaking opportunities and she took three of them.
With the win the World no. 47 improved to 4-4 for the season (including qualifiers). It was just her second main draw win this season. The first came against World No. 542 Ashlyn Krueger in the Indian Wells Open.
This is the 27-year-old’s seventh appearance in Miami. She has to beat a top 50 player this season. Will that happen in the second round?
