Rinderknech, Primed for a Good Run

26-year-old Arthur Rinderknech arrived in Miami after an uneventful spell in the last few weeks. However, considering his overall form this season, the Frenchman’s prospects of delivering a good run are not too bad.

A runner-up in Adelaide 2 (his maiden ATP finals) and a semifinalist in Doha, Rinderknech has shown potential in taking on the pros and giving them a run for their money. In these two events, he defeated the likes of Karen Khachanov, Alexander Bublik, Denis Shapovalov and others to build his form.

After Doha, however, World No. 58 incurred a sharp slump in his form as he fell in the opening rounds in Dubai (loss to Roberto Bautista Agut) and Indian Wells Masters (loss to Benjamin Bonzi).

Rinderknech also played in a Challenger event in Phoenix last week but could only make it as far as round two before bowing out to Liam Brody.

Djere, Struggling with Form

World No. 53 Laslo Djere hasn’t had the best of the season so far. Six tournaments in, the Serbian has managed just three victories and made it beyond the second round only once.

Since reaching the quarterfinal in Adelaide 1, he has lost his opening-round fixtures in the Australian Open, ATP Buenos Aires, ATP Rio, and ATP Acapulco.

In Tennis Paradise, Djere was downed by Jannik Sinner in round two in straight sets.

Looking at his track record in the Miami Open, this will be his second time in the tournament. Last year, he won his opening match but couldn’t make it further into the mid-rounds.

Djere v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

This match can very well swing either way as there is not a whole lot that separates the two players. Rinderknech may have the slight advantage on account of his overall form this season and superior momentum – but Djere can negate that just as quickly with a strong start.

That said, it is quite likely that this one will be a long affair.
