Korda’s talents have been known for a while and he continued to impress as he raced away to a straightforward first round win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Miami.
The American crashed Davidovich Fokina’s party with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in a match that lasted a mere 73 minutes.
Having reached a career-best ranking of 38th in the world, Korda broke his opponent twice in the first set to take the lead and while an exchange of serve breaks might have broken some of that momentum, there was no looking back for Korda from there on.
He won the next five games in a row which included three more breaks of serves to wrap up the contest.
Korda will now take on an experienced player but one who has struggled for wins on hard court surfaces in the past.

Ramos Vinolas Playing Just His Second Match on Hard Court
Ramos-Vinolas has already won a title this year, the fourth of his career, but all of which have come on clay. On hard court surfaces, however, his record has anything but exemplary.
And to add to that, he has participated in just one hard court competition this season – at Australian Open in January. There, he lost in the first round to Sebastian Baez and opted to withdraw from all the other tournaments on that surface as he moved to the clay circuit.
A title victory in Cordoba and a semifinal in Santiago would have gotten him some confidence but to translate it to something more substantial on hard courts will be a difficult bet.
With a bye in the first round, Ramos Vinolas will know it would be a different kettle of fish taking on a player of the calibre of Korda.
