Elena Rybakina v Jessica Pegula Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the WTA Tour.

Number 16 seed Jessica Pegula kickstarted her Miami Open campaign with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Sloane Stephens. She now aims to reach the fourth round here – for the second successive edition.
Looking at her season so far, World No. 21 has had a rocky spell so far. With the exception of her quarterfinal heroics in the Australian Open, Pegula hasn’t really made it deep in any other event.
At the Indian Wells Open, she fell to Marie Bouzkova in the opener while in Doha, the American made it as far as round three before succumbing to Maria Sakkari. She also endured similar results in Dubai, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Of course, this isn’t to say that Pegula hasn’t got the potential; the 28-year-old has already won two doubles titles in 2022 and is fairly well experienced to put up a solid fight.

Rybakina, Looking more like Herself
After being hit by injuries and the subsequent recovery and loss in form, Elena Rybakina seems fit enough to get back to her winning ways.
In January, the 22-year-old Kazakh became the World No. 12 after reaching the final at Adelaide International 1 but ended up retiring/skipping her next few tournaments. It wasn’t until the BNP Paribas Open that Rybakina returned to tennis properly by reaching the quarterfinals there.
Here in Miami, she has started on the same note with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Elena-Gabriela Ruse in round two.
Rybakina has never made it past this stage in the tournament so a win over Pegula will do well for her confidence. And with a pretty impressive pedigree of eight singles finals, there is no reason why she can’t do it.
Rybakina v Pegula Prediction and Tip
Rybakina will start as the odds-on favourite owing to her overall consistency on the tour. Pegula, being a formidable opponent, will certainly put up a fight and make things as difficult as she can for her opponent. This may turn out to be a long affair where Rybakina should come out as the winner.
