Daniil Medvedev v Pedro Martinze Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, in the second round of the Australian Open in 2020, Medvedev winning in straight sets.

Medvedev Chasing World Number One Spot Again
Medvedev is looking to regain the number one world ranking that he briefly inherited from Novak Djokovic after losing to Rafael Nadal in the final of the Australian Open, only to lose it again when he was surprisingly beaten by Gael Monfils in the third round in Indian Wells.
The Frenchman is one of only two men to have beaten him this year, with Nadal responsible for his two other defeats, in Melbourne and Acapulco.
The Spaniard’s absence through injury this year has boosted his chances of winning what would be his fifth Masters’ title in all, but his first in Miami.
Having been given a first round bye, he enjoyed a comfortable opening victory over the former would number one, and wildcard, Andy Murray.
He broke the Scot in the third game of the first set, and, although the Scot saved another break point, he could do nothing against the Medvedev serve and dropped the first set.
Two consecutive breaks put Medvedev in complete control of the second set and the match, and it did not take long for him to wrap up the victory.

Maiden Third Round at Masters for Martinez
Martinez is much better known as a clay court player, and he may be as surprised as anybody to find himself in the third round in Miami, especially as he had never been beyond the second round of any Masters’ event before – the same stage he reached in Indian Wells incidentally.
He enjoyed a slice of fortune in his first round match against Jan-Lennard Struff. He was leading the German by a set and a break when Struff was forced to retire hurt.
There was nothing lucky though, about his second round victory of Cristian Garin of Chile, another man more at home on clay.
The match began with four successive breaks of serve but, with nothing separating them after that, it went to a tie-break which Martinez eventually won.
He then assumed charge of the match when the world number 30 dropped his serve early in the second set. One more break to love confirmed the win.
Medvedev v Martinez Prediction and Tip
Miracles do happen in tennis, as in life, but the chances of Martinez beating Medvedev in this match are up there with it snowing in Miami in March.
