Alexander Zverev v Federico Delbonis Head to Head
They played two times before with Zverev winning both times. Both of these matches happened in 2019 and both were on clay.

Alexander Zverev did not have a very good time in Monte-Carlo in previous years losing in round 3 in both of the previous editions in 2019 and 2021. The German generally does play very good tennis on clay as he won several trophies on the surface but something about Monaco just doesn’t sit right with him.
Perhaps it’s the switch from hard to clay despite Zverev saying that the transition was never a problem for him. Perhaps it’s something about the conditions as he generally plays better on clay where his serve is in play such as Madrid.
This season he’s been rather good but he will need to be rather careful as Delbonis is a formidable opponent on this surface. A good thing for him will be the fact that he already tasted the conditions having played in the doubles a day ago.

Delbonis Looking for Wins
Federico Delbonis arrived in the Principality in shake form having not played very well this season. A 6-10 record proves just that but what was really worrying was the shaky form in South American where he only posted a 4-5 record on clay.
The Argentinian did not play well but things changed a bit in Monaco when he faced Jaume Munar who was in very good shape. The Spaniard is a noted clay-court specialist yet Delbonis was able to overcome the Spaniard in rather strong fashion.
It was a long match and Delbonis complicated matters but when he needed to step up and win the match he did. He will need to continue that against Zverev but it will tough.
Zverev v Delbonis Prediction and Tip
They played two times before and Zverev won both matches. One was close and one was not and both came on clay. The German is by far the better player and generally played much better this year. Delbonis scored a strong win against Munar but he did not impress me that much.
I’ve been generally more disappointed with Munar than impressed with Delbonis and I think Zverev won’t have many issues here. The Argentinian might trouble him for a set but I don’t see him winning a set.
If Zverev plays motivated he will win easily, so if you trust him to do that, back him. I’ll trust him until he disappoints me.
