Stefanos Tsitsipas v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head
They played two times before with Tsitsipas winning both times. The most recent one came in Rotterdam this year with Stefanos getting the win 7-5 6-7(1) 6-4.

Tsitsipas Still Undefeated in Monaco
Dating back to last year Stefanos Tsitsipas is still undefeated in the principality. The Greek player raced to his first ATP 1000 trophy at the event last year and he is very close to doing it again. Another strong run this year saw him best several great players en route to the finals. It’s a very similar run to last year.
He has been pretty dominant in all the matchups playing a very good brand of tennis. His backhand has held up really well, especially on return. His forehand still continues to be a major weapon and his movement is great. Still there have been some moments of doubt surrounding Tsitsipas.
The disaster he avoided against Diego Schwartzman looms in many people’s minds including mine. Some of those doubts remained against Zverev where Tsitsipas had a couple of stupid mistakes. Overall he bested Zverev easily because the German was evidently tired and that is something Fokina will be as well.

Fokina Battling Like a Gladiator
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is through to this maiden ATP 1000 final and he deserved it. Saying how he elegantly advanced to the finals would be a lie but he truly battled for every single point and every single victory. It was quite amazing how he rose up against Grigor Dimitrov after falling behind in the final set finding some more energy after a brutally long week for him.
Three of his four victories came in three sets and at some point that will start to affect him. He’s playing the best even of his career by far but even with so many impressive victories, there are some glaring holes in his game. He had the match in control against Dimitrov but almost threw it away.
He’s a very streaky player that can fall complicate things for himself for no reason. That will be something he will have to overcome against Tsitsipas who will be well prepared for this matchup.
Tsitsipas v Fokina Prediction and Tip
So this is a very interesting matchup between two players that will most likely play another very close match. They played in Rotterdam this year and Tsitsipas barely won that match. They played in Monte-Carlo last year as well and Fokina was giving Tsitsipsa quite a bit of trouble despite battling a leg injury. He did retire from that match eventually.
So it’s a matchup where both players can cause trouble for the other. Tsitsipas has looked a bit more steady overall this week but that’s not saying much especially after he almost threw the event away against Schwartzman. Fokina is serving better the whole week which is something he will need to do to avoid playing long rallies against Tsitsipas.
The Greek will be well aware of the taxing nature of Fokina’s week and he will look to keep the rallies longer. The longer they are the more chances Tsitsipas will have. It’s going to be a battle and it’s going to be close. Tsitsipas theoretically should win and I will bac him once more to win it. I would not be shocked if he didn’t though, so be careful.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
