Maxime Cressy v Elias Ymer Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two at the highest level and another one on the Challenger circuit. Both these matches came last year and Ymer has won both.

Cressy Hasn’t Won in a While
The last time Cressy took to court and won a main draw match was at the Australian Open.
He had shocked John Isner in the first round there and followed it up with wins over Tomas Machac and Christopher O’Connell in the next two rounds.
A fighting performance against Daniil Medvedev wasn’t enough to get him through to the quarterfinals but should have built on his confidence for the tournaments to follow.
Instead what’s followed has been a carnage of sorts. The American has featured in six competitions after that, including one at the Challenger level and lost in the first round at each one of them.
And Cressy now enters a clay court competition, a surface where he has barely created the proverbial dent all career. Can he turn things around here?

Ymer Aiming for Better Luck on Clay
Ymer’s current ranking of 130th in the world is his best for the season but his performances since his showing in Pune earlier this year haven’t quite made the mark.
The Swede lost in the qualifiers in Doha only to make it as a lucky loser and then win a round, but following that he has struggled to get going.
In fact in the three ATP tournaments that he has played in post that, Ymer hasn’t won a main draw match and his only victory at that stage of any competition came in a Challenger tournament in Marbella.
A couple of wins during the qualifiers allowed Ymer to make it to the main draw here in Barcelona, a tournament he has won a main draw match just once at in the past. Can he overcome a struggling Cressy in this opener?
Cressy v Ymer Prediction and Tip
Ymer might not have won a lot but Cressy’s underwhelming along with the Swede’s record on clay should be enough to turn things around for him. Expecting Ymer to win this one.
