Sebastian Korda v Carlos Taberner Head to Head
This will be their first meeting.

Korda Looking for Consistency
Sebastian Korda has recorded some good wins this season, but will be disappointed with just one quarterfinal appearance in 2022.
He knocked out Cameron Norrie at the Australian Open, accounted for Alejandro Davoidovich Fokina and Albert Ramos-Vinolas in Miami, and then got the biggest win of the season in Monte-Carlo, defeating World No. 11 and Miami Open champion Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 32 before falling to Taylor Fritz in the Round of 16.
The 21-year-old is 10-6 this season. Last year, he had a brilliant season, finishing runner-up in Delray Beach and the ATP NextGen Finals and winning his maiden title in Parma. As a result of that title success on clay, Korda has an 11-6 career record on the surface and there is a good possibility of that improving further in Barcelona.
Given his form, Korda will be expected to win the first-round match and set-up a second-round clash with the third seed Felix Auger Aliassime, who has struggled in the last few tournaments.

Taberner Breezes Past Qualifiers
Carlos Taberner dropped just five games over the two qualification rounds to breeze into the main draw of the Barcelona Open.
The 24-year-old, who won the Roseto Degli Abruzzi 1 Challenger on clay earlier this season, defeated France’s Maxime Janvier 6-2, 6-0 in the first qualifying round and then ousted another Frenchman Hugo Grenier, 6-2, 6-1 in the second qualifying round.
Set to make his debut in Barcelona, the World no. 94 brings a 3-4 season record to the tournament. He is yet to win two consecutive main draw matches this season and faces a massive test in the first round against a very good clay court player.
Taberner is 5-3 in the Challenger Tour finals and 3-6 in the Futures Tour finals, with all the 17 finals being on clay. Can he spring a surprise in the opener?
Korda v Taberner Prediction and Tip
Korda got off to a good start in Monte-Carlo and he will look to do the same in Barcelona. Expect the American to advance with ease.
