Iga Swiatek v Eva Lys Head to Head

World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is set to kickstart the clay swing as one of the heavy favourites to eventually move on and win the French Open.
The 20-year-old was simply brilliant and sensational in March as she won the Sunshine Doubles – joining the club of elite few who have done it. Swiatek is now 28-3 with three WTA 1000 titles – Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, and Doha Open. She also reached the semifinal in the Australian Open and Adelaide 1.
Last weekend, she also helped Poland steer into the Billie Jean King Cup Finals as she played at home in Radom; she dismissed Mihaela Buzarnescu and Andreea Prisacariu in straight sets losing just one game.
This will match in Stuttgart will be Swiatek’s first clay match of the season and as the 2020 French Open and 2021 Italian Open winner, it is suffice to say that she is more than comfortable here.

Lys Stuns Golubic
Eva Lys is also 20 year old but unlike Swiatek, she still has ways to go. Currently ranking #342, the German is playing in only her third WTA event.
Her last two times were in Hamburg and Linz where she lost in the opening qualifying match. But here in Stuttgart, she has done well to reach the main draw and win her first WTA match.
Lys defeated Cristina Bucsa and Kathinka von Deichmann in the qualifiers while in the opener, she stunned the Swiss favourite Viktorija Golubic 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.
Her previous experience has rather been limited to the ITF circuit where she won a couple of titles. While Lys has played in a handful of events this season too, she hasn’t been quite successful.

There is no denying that Swiatek is the heavy favourite here; she has the momentum, experience, and skills needed to make quick work of Lys and reach the next round comfortably.
