Alex de Minaur v Lloyd Harris Head to Head
It’s 1-1 from their previous two meetings. Harris won on hard court in Tokyo in 2019, while De Minaur won on clay in Madrid last year.

De Minaur Knocks Out Humbert
No. 10 seed Alex de Minaur made a good start to the tournament, defeating World No. 46 Ugo Humbert in a three-set contest to move into the third round.
The World no. 25, who had a first-round bye, needed two hours and 14 minutes to beat the Frenchman 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Humbert went up a break in the fourth game of the first set, but the Australian got it back immediately in the next game and then broke two more times to take the first set. In the second set, Humbert came back from a break down on two occasions, before getting another break in the ninth game to take control of the set. He served out the set in the next game, forcing the decider.
It was the Frenchman who broke serve in the very first game of the third set, but De Minaur pulled it back soon and then broke again during a phase in the set when he won five games in a row. There would be no more breaks in the match as the Australian served out the match and moved into the third round.
De Minaur improved to 14-7 for the season. But despite winning so many matches the 23-year-old has reached the quarterfinals just once and that was in Rotterdam.
A five-time champion on the tour, De Minaur is yet to make an impression on clay and this was just his eighth tour-level victory on the surface from 25 matches.

Harris Motors Along
Lloyd Harris ousted a second Spaniard in two days to move into the Round of 16. In the first round on Tuesday, the South African had defeated Roberto Carballés Baena 6-4, 7-6 (7-0), while in the second round on Wednesday, the World No. 40 ousted 17th seed Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3, 6-4.
Broken once by Carballes Baena in the first round, Harris saved all six break points against Ramos-Vinolas in a solid performance that saw him win the contest in just an hour and 34 minutes. Harris broke his opponents twice in each match and as a result of the two wins, he is now 7-9 for the season.
The 25-year-old didn’t have the most ideal starts to the season, but his confidence has grown since his run to the fourth round of the Miami Open.
Making his debut in Barcelona, he will be hoping to go deeper in the tournament, but doesn’t have a great record on clay, having come into the tournament with a 4-12 record on the surface at the tour level.
