Albert Ramos-Vinolas v Fernando Verdasco Head to Head
The pair have played each other ten times before, and their head to head record is five wins each, although Verdasco’s last victory was back in 2017.
Their last meeting came in this tournament a year ago in the first round, Ramos-Vinolas winning in straight sets en route to the final.

Defending Champion Ramos-Vinolas
Ramos-Vinolas is the defending champion in Estoril having beaten Cameron Norrie in last year’s final in three sets.
That was his third ATP title success, and he has since added to that with victory at the Cordoba Open in Argentina two months ago.
He has made hard work so far of the defence of his title, beginning in the first round where he had to overcome the loss of the second set to Jordan Thompson, and came back from a break down in the third, before finally overcoming the Australian.
And he was initially made to struggle by Soon-woo Kwon of South Korea, the world number 71, in their second round match, dropping the first set.
However, that seemed to spur him into action, and he breezed through the second set for the loss of just one game to level the match, and then back to back third set breaks enabled him to close out the match.

2011 Finalist Verdasco
The veteran Verdasco was a runner-up in this tournament as far back as 2011, when he was thrashed in the final by Juan Martin del Potro.
In those days he was a regular top ten player and would have been seeded in Estoril. But in 2022, he has to rely on the qualification route to earn his place in the main draw.
He beat Radu Albot of Moldova, but then lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France, before fortune smiled on him twice.
Not only did he get a second chance as a lucky loser, but he also earned a bye into the second round.
There he met another qualifier and player the wrong side of 35, in the form of the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas, taking the first set with ease after two breaks of serve.
The South American was the first to break in the second set, but Verdasco responded with a break of his own immediately and then underpinned that with another break, serving out next game.
Ramos-Vinolas v Verdasco Prediction and Tip
Verdasco has ridden his luck to get this far, qualifying as a lucky loser, getting a first round bye, and then benefitting from a kindly second round draw. Against the defending champion, though, his good fortune is likely to run out.
Tip: Ramos-Vinolas to win: 6/13 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
