Mladenovic’s Won Just One Match This Year
She was once ranked 10th in the world but Mladenovic’s poor form has seen her trip to outside the top 100 at the moment. And even calling her form poor is an understatement of gigantic proportions.
Because spread across the WTA, WTA 125 and ITF competitions, Mladenovic has featured in 10 tournaments this year and won just one main draw match.
Such has been the paucity of results going her way that even the match she did manage to win, against the 142nd-ranked Tessah Andrianjafitrimo, she needed a 9-7 in the final set tie-breaker to scrape through to the win.
Against the 10th-ranked Fernandez and despite her opponent’s poor form, Mladenovic will be looking for some kind of a miracle to turn things around and emulate her French Open showing from the last season.
