Karen Khachanov v Nuno Borges Head to Head
Khachanov and Borges have not clashed at any level before this.

Can Khachanov Repeat 2019 Feat?
Karen Khachanov has been quietly making strides in his quest to reach the upper echelons of the sport. For a man who has been ranked as high as No. 8, it was refreshing to hear at the turn of the year that he has a goal to make it back to the world’s Top 10.
While such a scenario might be out of his reach, it is still possible that the Russian can pull it off. Khachanov would need to embark on a consistent run of form in the second half of the season starting at Roland Garros this fortnight.
The 25-year-old has compiled a 15-13 record for 2022, with his best result coming in the opening week of the season when he finished runner-up to Gael Monfils in Adelaide.
Khachanov’s clay-court record is not of major relevance, but he has reached the second week of the French Open four times in six visits. That includes a quarterfinal run in 2019, so can he repeat that feat?

Borges Runs the Gauntlet
Nuno Borges became the ninth-ever Portuguese man that will play in the main draw of Roland Garros after defeating Zsombor Piros in the final round of qualifying 3-6 6-2 6-1, and was visibly emotional at the end of it all and it was easy to see why.
Borges, whose Grand Slam debut was delayed almost five months since his positive Covid-19 test ruled him out of Australian Open qualifiying, made amends in Paris.
The 25-year-old had to run the gauntlet to get to the main draw, scraping past Thomas Fabbiano and then producing a serving masterclass to see off Felipe Meligeni Alves in the past couple of rounds.
And he came full circle on Thursday against 22-year-old Piros where he took 12 of the last 15 games to overturn a one-set deficit and the match.
Khachanov v Borges Prediction and Tip
Borges’ serve is a major plus in these conditions and will surely test Khachanov’s slightly unreliable return. But the Russian’s vast experience at this level should hold him in good stead.
Tip: Khachanov to win: 2/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
