What better way would it be for Trevisan to enter this year’s French Open than for her to have won her maiden WTA title. This is what she did at Rabat in the lead-up to the year’s Grand Slam, and more so following on from a run of very poor form otherwise.
After having made it to the quarterfinals in Marbella in what was her first clay court competition for the season, Trevisan lost three of her next four matches on the same surface.
Which is why when she entered the Rabat Open, Trevisan was the second favourite going into two of her five matches and even odds in a third. She won them all, defeating Garbine Muguruza, Claire Liu and Arantxa Rus in the process.
Can she kick on from there and try and emulate her showing from the 2020 French Open where she had made the last eight stage?

Dart Struggles on Clay
Dart has never been ranked better than 99th in the world and that also dictates the kind of tournament she features in. Which is mostly at the ITF level as opposed to the WTA level.
Which is why when she qualified for the main draw of the Indian Wells Open earlier this season it was a surprise in itself but what followed was phenomenal. The 25-year-old defeated Ana Konjuh, Elina Svitolina and Kaia Kanepi to reach the fourth round and register her best singles performance for her career.
Things haven’t quite worked out as well for her since though. Especially not on clay, which isn’t her most favourite surface anyway.
In the three clay court competitions she has featured in, Dart has lost three and won nothing. This includes a first round exit on the ITF circuit as well earlier this month.
Against the in-form Trevisan, her resolve is sure to get tested on a surface she has generally struggled on.

Expect Trevisan to ease to a win in this one with one small caveat – she would hope to get bit of a break between her title triumph in Rabat and the start of the French Open. If Dart can push her to a third set, things could get tighter than usual for Trevisan.
