Maria Bouzkova had a very hot start to the season winning multiple matches on hard courts. Since the season shifted to the clay courts it’s not been that great. Her only good clay event came in Madrid where she won a couple of matches in the qualifiers and then added two more in the main draw.
She’s 21-8 on the year and 4-2 on clay. She did not play in Rome and it probably had more to do with fatigue than any injuries. The Czech player is having somewhat of a breakout season but she will need to find some form on clay to keep that going.
She is certainly favoured in this matchup because she’s generally played well on clay and she’s quite young. Roland Garros plays faster than before and her hard-hitting style should do her good on these newer courts.

Solid Tennis From Davis
Lauren Davis is a very interesting player because she plays quite a different style than most. She is short-statured and she needs to play differently to overcome the tall hitter’s tennis is dominated by at the moment. Davis has always played well on clay because of the variety she has.
Drop shots are something she loves to use and expect many in this match as well. She is 12-10 on the year and that’s quite solid while clay 4-4 with some noted performances in Rome last week. She was able to overcome Jelena Ostapenko but lost to Elena Rybakina.
Davis is certainly capable of winning this match but she will need to be sharp. Roland Garros has not been that kind to her as she lost in the first round in each of the two most recent appearances.
Bouzkova v Davis Prediction and Tip
This is a very tough matchup to call because the players are closer than the odd would like you to believe. Bouzkova has only played one good clay event but she can certainly play well on the surface. She is the better player overall, that’s for sure but she might run into problems against Davis.
I expect the American to put up a very good effort and keep the match close at the very least. We might even see three sets but I’m not sure which player to back. I’d rather just back the over because I think Davis will be able to keep it close.
Bouzkova has the match on her racquet. If she can play at a consistent level she should win the match But I don’t think it will come easily. So back Bouzkova but be aware it might go badly.
