Brandon Nakashima v Kamil Majchrzak Head to Head
Nakashima and Majchrzak met recently in the qualifying rounds of the Rome Masters – their only head-to-head meeting prior to this. The man from San Diego won in straight sets.

Nakashima Set For Roland Garros Debut
After two unsuccessful tries in the past two years, Brandon Nakashima made sure he would be at Roland Garros this year. The San Diego native embarked on an impressive rise in the rankings last season, winning two titles on the ATP Challenger Tour, along with a great breakout year at tour level.
Nakashima reached back-to-back tour-level finals in the American summer last season, in Los Cabos and Atlanta respectively. Those results got him a wild card at the US Open, and not that he needed one actually, considering he had already broken inside the Top 100 for the first time.
The 20-year-old has since been on the ascendancy, closing out the year with a quarterfinal run in Antwerp and a semifinal finish at the Next Gen ATP Finals.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing for him in 2022 as he is playing close to a full schedule on the main tour, which is a different ball game altogether. But now that his ranking is high enough to get him direct entry into the Grand Slams, he will certainly look to make it count.

Majchrzak Builds Momentum Ahead of French Open
Kamil Majchrzak has shown his talent in dribs and drabs this season. He has done enough during the first half of the season to keep his ranking afloat and inside the world’s Top 100.
Majchrzak, who plays second fiddle to countryman Hubert Hurkacz, is also having a very hard time transitioning to full-time tennis on the ATP Tour, much like Nakashima.
The 26-year-old reached his first tour-level semifinal of his career in Pune at the start of February but has struggled to string wins together until recently in Geneva where he made the last eight.
Majchrzak scored high-quality wins over the likes of Alexander Bublik and Marco Cecchinato in the Swiss city, but did not have the answers to an inspired Richard Gasquet in the quarters. Still, it was a decent showing that should put him in good stead in his third main draw appearance at the French Open.
Nakashima v Majchrzak Prediction and Tip
If their match in Rome was a precursor of what is to come, then this should be a long one. Both players are versatile and possess well-balanced games. But I think Nakashima’s backhand is clearly a shot that could come in handy in this matchup.
