Maryna Zanevska is not having the kind of year she had hoped but it’s far from terrible either with a 10-7 record. Her clay play has been pretty good with a 5-2 record as that is her best and favourite surface. The Belgian dominated on the surface in the previous years and Roland Garros will present a solid chance for her.
She did not play in the main draw in either of the two previous editions having lost in the qualifiers. This time around she’s in thanks to her ranking and it will be a delight for her. Recent form has been pretty solid with a solid outing in Strasbourg where she lost to Karolina Pliskova.
Zanevska is the typical clay player with pretty solid movement and solid groundstrokes albeit not that powerful. She will certainly be in trouble if she allows Zheng to attack her repeatedly although she is quite equipped for handling that type of pressure.

Zheng Pacing Herself
Qinwen Zheng had a pretty strong start to the year with some noted performances on hard courts. She broke into the top 100 but ever since doing that the Chinese player has been pacing herself. She did not play too many events even going a few weeks between events.
It’s unclear if there were some injury concerns as she did not speak on it but when she did play she was usually solid. A very aggressive player by nature, Zheng attacks and lives with the results. Her last outing came in Madrid almost a month ago and she lost that one to Karolina Muchova.
It’s hard to predict what type of Zheng will arrive here having not played for a very long time but if she plays the way she can, she will certainly be in a solid position to win this match. 17-8 on the year is good enough to note the improvement from last year.
Zanevska v Zheng Prediction and Tip
So these two players have never played against each other making this a bit harder than usual. Generally, Zanevska has had more experience on clay having pretty much grown up on the surface. On the other hand we have Zheng who has been superb on clay in her career with a 45-15 record.
Zheng is a bit more aggressive so the match is on her racquet. If you think she can win you should back her. I certainly agree that she might win especially if she attacks precisely. Those players give Zanevska the biggest of troubles so the Chinese player has that on her side.
However not play in a month generally creates issues for players, even the best ones so keep in mind she might be a bit rusty. An over is certainly expected because the match will most likely go to three sets. Zheng should have enough so let’s back her to win it.
