France’s own Leolia Jeanjean is making her Grand Slam debut as she received a wild card into the main draw of Roland Garros.
This is one the most incredible stories at the Open. Jeanjean was a child prodigy who had a horrific knee injury that kept her out of professional tennis for more than 3 years. After she returned, she only played 30 matches between 2018 and 2020.
Since the beginning of 2021, she has won a mammoth 78 matches and only lost 31 matches. Though she has mainly been playing the ITF events, it is a testament of her character.
Now aged 26, Jeanjean will be grateful for this second chance she has received in her career and if she manages to stun the WTA tour at this stage, she will never regret all the lost years due to her injury.
