Maria Osorio Serrano v Harriet Dart Head to Head
No previous main draw matches have been played between Osorio Serrani and Dart before this. The one time they did face off was in a qualifier at Monterrey last year and Osorio Serrano had won that one.

It hasn’t been a great start to the grass court swing for Osorio Serrano who was drawn to take on Maria Sakkari in the first round at Nottingham last week.
The Colombian, who had surprised a lot of fans at Wimbledon last season with a third round appearance as a qualifier, won only five games in that Sakkari match, before getting knocked out of the tournament.
That is not to say Osorio Serrano has had it all going against her this season. There have been times she has looked solid, almost difficult to dislodge on courts. A quarterfinal appearance at Guadalajara was followed by Osorio Serrano becoming a Monterrey Open finalist.
And then in Bogota, she made it to the semifinal.
Will all of this, however, translate into a few wins on grass? There is that possibility against Dart, who hasn’t been in the best of form.

Dart Comes up with Strong Performance in Nottingham
A wild-card entrant at the Nottingham Open, Dart surprised a few people including, probably, her own self when she reached the quarterfinal of that tournament.
Dart, who had lost seven successive matches at the ITF and WTA level coming into the Nottingham Open, shocked Donna Vekic in straight sets in the first round.
And despite starting out at 3/1 against Camila Giorgi in her second round encounter, the Briton came back from a set down to register a final tie-breaker win.
Dart lost in the quarterfinal to Alison Riske but she looks to have done enough in recent times to give her a solid chance at this one. Having never won a main draw match at the Birmingham Classic in five previous attempts this could be Dart’s best chance to do so.

Dart is the bookmakers’ favourite at 4/6 but we will be backing Osorio Serrano here to win this and move to the second round. For someone with a strong performance on grass last season, odds of 6/5 for a win here against a player ranked outside the top 100 look like sound ones.
