Stefanos Tsitsipas v Benjamin Bonzi Head to Head

The pair have played each other once before, and that was on the grass of Halle just last week, Tsitsipas winning in straight sets.

Bonzi Eases Past German into Last Four

Bonzi is celebrating having reached his second ATP tour semi-final, having also reached this stage in Marseille in February this year.

His campaign began against Alejandro Tabilo of Chile and the Frenchman benefitted when Tabilo was forced to retire injured, although he was down a set and a break at that stage.

No luck, though, was involved as he dumped the number three seed, Denis Shapovalov out of the event on Wednesday, instead dominating the out of sorts Canadian.

In Thursday’s quarter-final he played the German, Daniel Altmaier, the world number 64, like him not particularly known as a clay court player.

The first set was largely dominated by serve until the eight game, when the Altmaier serve came under serious pressure for the first time. He saved four break points but not the fifth, allowing Bonzi to wrap up the set next game,

The second set was almost a mirror image of the second, with serve holding swap until the moment Altmaier was broken once more. This time, Bonzi was able to serve out to love.

Tsitsipas Makes Hard Work of Victory Against American

The world number six has not been at his best in recent week, and is looking to find some form ahead of Wimbledon.

However, after being given a bye, and then having beaten Ilya Ivashka in straight sets in the second round, he was made to work a lot harder than he might have wanted by the American Marcos Giron in their quarter-final on Thursday.

Giron was the first to drop his serve in the first set, only to respond with a  break of his own. The pair swapped breaks again and that meant a tie-break decider.

Both men had their chances, but it was Tsitsipas who claimed the set in the end.

Giron, though, refused to give up, constantly threatening the Greek’s serve in the second set, and he got his reward when he broke him again. He served out to love to level the match.

It remained an even contest until the eighth game of the third set, when Tsitsipas converted the second of two break points he had created.

He finally clinched the win next game.

Tsitsipas v Bonzi Prediction and Tip

This is an immediate rematch after the pair met in the opening round in Halle last week on grass. Tsitsipas won that contest in straight sets, and will be confident of beating Bonzi again.
