Sonego Hoping for Stronger Wimbledon Showing
Sonego started the grass season strongly reaching the quarterfinal of Stuttgart. Since then he has only been able to win one of the three matches he has played.
In Queens he had faced Denis Kudla in the first round and was not able to find answers to the Kudla slice. He won his first round match in Eastbourne against James Duckworth which was a grueling 4-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(1) win.
In the second round he faced his 2021 Eastbourne Final nemesis, Alex de Minaur and lost in straight sets.
The Italian had a strong grass season last year and is defending important points in London, having not been able to defend his points in Eastbourne. He reached the round of 16 last year where he fell prey to Roger Federer.
Sonego is having an average year with a 15-17 record. He has not been able to get over the line despite being very competitive in most of those losses.

Kudla Hopes his Grass Form Continues in Wimbledon
Denis Kudla is an experienced player on the grass surface with a very good career record on it.
He reached the third round of Wimbledon last year as a qualifier which was his best career finish in the tournament and lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.
He started his grass season preparation early, making an impressive run to the Surbiton Challenger Final where he lost to Jordan Thompson. In that final run, he defeated former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray in three sets in the semifinal.
He also reached the second round of Queens as a lucky loser. The American is currently 23-20 this year and is ranked 78.
Sonego v Kudla Prediction and Tip
Surprisingly Kudla has a H2H edge over Sonego but both players have prepared well for this grass season and are defending important points. This should be a tough physical battle with at least 4 sets played in the match.
Tip: Sonego to win: 4/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
