Schwartzman is 0-2 on Grass This Season

A 7-13 overall record on grass is a clear indicator of Diego Schwartzman’s struggles on the surface. While the World No. 15 is a fiercely competitive player on clay and hard surfaces he still has a lot to prove on grass. But the Argentine has made some progress on the surface over the last couple of of seasons.

Schwartzman, who had won just one match in his first four main draw appearances at Wimbledon from 2015 to 2018, made it to the third round in both the 2019 and 2021 editions. In addition, he also made it to the quarterfinals in Queen’s in 2019. This year though, he is yet to win on the surface.

The 29-year-old was outplayed by Sam Querrey in the opener at Queen’s. He also lost the opener at Eastbourne, falling to local hope Jack Draper.

He did beat Alexei Popyrin at the Hurlingham exhibition, but preparations for Wimbledon haven’t been ideal for the 12th seed, who had been churning out decent performances before the start of the grass season. Schwartzman finished runner-up in Buenos Aires and Rio and was a semifinalist Cordoba and Barcelona. Thanks to those performances and a run to the Round of 16 at the French Open, he brings a 24-14 record to the tournament.

These will be challenging conditions for the Argentinian, but he will be hoping to make a winning start and build from there.

Kozlov Makes it as a Lucky Loser

A combination of good fortune and fighting displays have helped Kozlov make it through to his first ever main draw at Wimbledon.

Having been a part of the tour since 2013, Kozlov had earlier entered the main draw at a major only once – and that came earlier this at Australian Open. He had gone on to surprise Jiri Vesely in the first round there, and in straight sets, to register his first ever such victory.

Since then, Kozlov has found some of his mojo which has helped him climb up the rankings charts.

He was 169th on the ATP Rankings in the middle of January this year and a quarterfinal appearance in Delray Beach and a second round appearance at Delray Beach have helped him break into the top 110 and make it to his career-best ranking of 107th in the world.

The question is if he possesses the game to test a player who has had his struggles on grass?

Schwartzman v Kozlov Prediction and Tip

Schwartzman will be relieved not to be playing Borna Coric but Kozlov could be a tricky opponent in his own right. Expect Schwartzman to win but not before Kozlov has taken a set off him.

Tip: Schwartzman to win AND Both players to win a set: 13/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
