Thiago Monteiro v Jaume Munar Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice before on clay. Monteiro won in Buenos Aires in 2020, but a year later it was the turn of Munar in Barcelona.

Brazilian Number One Monteiro
The current Brazilian number one, Monteiro is principally known as a clay court player, having appeared in sixteen finals on the Challenger tour on the surface, winning half of them.
Perhaps not surprisingly, his best result in a Grand Slam came at Roland Garros in 2020, when he made the third round. He would have been disappointed, therefore, not to get beyond the first round of qualifying for the French Open this year.
By contrast, his Wimbledon record is less impressive, and it was back in 2017 that he won his only match at the All England Club.
However, he has taken his preparations more seriously this year than some clay court players, entering the tournament in Eastbourne last week, where he came through qualifying and then beat Ugo Humbert of France, before losing to the man who would go on to win the event, Taylor Fritz of the USA.

Munar Never Been Beyond Wimbledon First Round
Like Monteiro, Munar is happiest on a clay court, and he reached his first senior ATP final in April last year, beaten by compatriot Pablo Carreno-Busta in the Andalucía Open.
A winner on the Challenger tour twice over in 2022, in Marbella and Perugia, again they were both clay court tournaments.
This will be his third appearance in the first round of Wimbledon, but he has never been further.
His only previous grass match this season was last week in Mallorca, where he was beaten in the first round by Aslan Karatsev.
Monteiro v Munar Prediction and Tip
With both men happier to feel clay under their feet than grass, there is little to choose between them on paper, especially as they have an identical head to head record.
However, Monteiro is topped to advance because at least he has won at Wimbledon before.
